Our Mission
UACT is an organization of Athens County tenants that fights for local housing justice. UACT members:
empower ourselves with a knowledge of tenants’ legal rights
disclose individual landlords’ track records
share tenant reviews of local landlords and rental units
connect renters with local resources
Our Members
United Athens County Tenants Members should be either:
Tenants or those unhoused in Athens County or surrounding counties in SE Ohio.
Individuals who have specific knowledge in tenant rights, or with an expressed history or interest in tenant organizing, regardless of homeownership status.
United Athens County Tenant Members will not be:
Individuals who own or manage rental properties anywhere.
Ideally, membership of UACT will always be in the majority hands of tenants, with no more than a ⅔ to ⅓ split of tenants to homeowners at any given time (giving tenants the supermajority). Exceptions can be discussed on a case by case basis.
